At Gladys, every member of our staff is a host.

Whether you're pouring wine, pulling espresso shots, or helping someone discover their next favorite book, your role is to create a welcoming, affirming experience for every guest who walks through our doors. We don’t separate front-of-house from back-of-house — we all show up as stewards of the space.

Hosting at Gladys means moving with care, curiosity, and pride. It means honoring the legacy of our namesake and community, creating space for Black joy, queer connection, and literary discovery. It means believing in the power of a good book, a well-pulled shot, and a room full of intention.

We’re building something special in Bed-Stuy — a space where hospitality isn’t performative, but rooted in care. A place where Black queer folks, our friends, and neighbors feel seen, held, and celebrated. And we’re looking for people who want to build that with us.

We are now hiring for host positions at Gladys, with duties ranging across:

• Espresso and café service

• Bookselling and community engagement

• Wine and non-alcoholic beverage service

• Creating a warm, inclusive environment for all
