Gladys was built to hold all of you. We lean, unapologetically, into the Auntie Aesthetic — warm tones, bold color, and the kind of welcome that tells you to stay a while. Our name carries two truths, and so does our space: books upstairs, wine below.
Light, airy, and full of us
The bookstore café is where the day lives. Sunlight on green tile, a curved emerald sofa, arched shelves stacked with Black and queer literature you won't find centered anywhere else. Order a latte, pull a book, and settle in. There are artists among us — and this room was made for them.
A counter worth lingering at
Deep green zellige tile, brass-and-cane stools, and a menu that keeps it simple — latte, cortado, matcha, a biscuit if you're lucky. Gratuity's included, because taking care of people is the whole point.
Descend into something sexier
Down the stairs, the light turns red. Feather chandeliers, velvet stools, a beaded curtain, and a wall of natural wine glowing under candlelight. This is the speakeasy — intimate, a little decadent, deeply intentional. The portraits on the walls watch over you like the aunties they are.
